The Collinsville Kahoks have announced that the football team will leave the Southwestern Conference after the 2018 season.

This doesn’t mean the end of the football program. The team will no longer be a member in the Southwestern Conference but instead will act as an independent team.

“It would be best for the safety and competitiveness of the athletes,” said Coach Lee, Athletic Director.

Some of the players disagree with the school’s choice to leave the conference however.

In my opinion I think that we made the wrong decision,” said Quarterback Chris Chi. “Yes our team gets smaller as the season goes on but I have full faith in my team for the future. If we work hard in the off-season and are disciplined enough, I believe that we can succeed. No doubt in my mind.”

The school will have to schedule games with other schools instead of having a predetermined list of teams they can play.

The Kahok football teams have a single combined win that came over Granite City.
