As the girls basketball team approaches the middle of their season, they are working hard to accomplish their goals while having lost seven retiring seniors.

The girls started early September doing hard workouts every afternoon from 3 to 4:30. After many sweaty nights, they have reached their season and are currently 3-7.

Although their record isn’t how they would want it to be, they got third place in the Nashville Tournament during Thanksgiving break, losing to Oakville in the first game. Another highlight was Sophomore Faith Liljegren receiving All-Tournament Second Team.

This team has many hard obstacles to overcome.

¨We lost a lot of players from last year and are short of players this year,”said senior Emily Ford. ¨There’s tough teams in our conference but with a little hard work we can achieve this mission.¨

¨Our only weakness is that we are short, but luckily we are in shape, and never give up,” said senior Venise Govan.

Seniors Valerie Weeks, Venise Govan, Emily Ford, Antoinette Buehne would love for you guys to come out to their next game December, 19 against Granite City, at Collinsville Vergil Fletcher Gym.
