Collinsville High School has implemented a new policy regarding cellphones. Electronics, including cellphones and headphones, AirPods, etc, are only allowed to be used in the cafeteria during lunch
The new cellphone plan has been initiated to help students gain more focus on their education rather than being on their cellphones. In the past years, students have been on their cellphones and not paying attention in class, which leaves them not doing their work and then later failing the tests or even the classes. The new cellphone policy was implemented to stop that from happening and to help students have a longer attention span.
Although I agree with the new policy in class, I think cellphones should be allowed during study hall because they give students something else to do other than do work, and give them a break from having their minds working 24/7. Allowing students to have their phones during study hall helps prevent boredom when they do not have homework.
My personal opinion on the cellphone ban is although most students think the cellphone ban shouldn’t even be a thing, I feel like it’s beneficial because it has changed the way the student body acts and how they interact with each other.
Having the no-cellphone policy has made a huge impact on how the student body communicates with each other. Some people, including myself, have seen an increase in students interacting with each other and being more social.
As I’ve stated before, I do think cellphones should be allowed during study hall to give the students a break from school work, but I do agree with the cellphone policy and how it has made a good improvement to social and academic activities. Admin should consider allowing them during study hall.
