Senior Assassin has become one of those traditions everyone looks forward to — it gives seniors something to bond over during their final months of high school. At its best, it’s a tradition that brings people together who might not normally cross paths. It turns the entire senior class into a slightly competitive team, sharing laughs, surprises, and stories they’ll remember after graduation.
This year, though, the game has looked a little different. Instead of being an event where anyone can join and be on the same team, this year things were kept small and limited toa select group of seniors. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting to play with people you’re close to, it also means that many seniors who were excited to participate never got the chance. For a tradition that’s supposed to unite the class, many felt the disconnect.
Senior Assassin works best when it’s open to everyone. The fun of the game comes from the unexpected alliances, the creative planning, and the way it breaks down social walls. When the whole class is involved, it becomes more than a game; it becomes an experience that reminds seniors that, no matter their friend group, they’re all part of the same graduating class.
Many schools also use Senior Assassin as a way to support a good cause, such as raising money for a charity or contributing to a senior gift. Turning the game into something that helps others gives it even more meaning and makes participation feel purposeful, not just entertaining.
As the year continues, there’s still time to think about how traditions like this can grow and improve. Senior Assassin has the potential to be something that brings everyone together — a final celebration of the class as a whole. And maybe next year, or even later this spring, the game can return to what it’s meant to be: fun, inclusive, and something every senior gets to be part of.
But as you are reading this, have you wondered how this can work out to everyone’s best interests? It can be done by having some form of communication, like a Google Form. An announcement could be made to bring awareness, so people can fill out the Google Form. Also, we have the Class of 2026 Google Classroom, which is also a great way to get more seniors to be involved, and can experience a final inclusive activity that all seniors can remember for a lifetime.
